Physical Education and Budget loss
 
As I said in a previous post, schools are cutting their physical education classes as part of budget cuts. Since, there has been a lot of negative turn out because of this. First, job loss became a huge issue. In a three year span for 2008 to 2011, a total of three hundred thousand physical education jobs were lost. That has become a very huge problem to the students who depend on physical education of their physical activity. Forty four percent of schools reduced the amount of offers for their physical education times and seventy percent increased their class size. Both of these effect the students in a few ways. With more students in the class, students may not get the best learning that they can get as there would be too many students in the class. They would not be getting the proper amount of physical activity each day. Only six states in the US require physical education for all grade K-12.

Physical Activity and grades in school. One of the biggest problems in todays society is that students in schools are not getting enough physical activity. There are a few reasons to why this is not helping their school performance. First, schools are taking away physical education because of budget cuts. This is a huge deal because not all students will be able to get physical activity outside of school, so their physical education class is all they get per week. One benefit to have physical education in your schools is students are more likely to have higher grades in class. There was a study done in 2008, where 2.4 million students in Texas found that when the students were more physically fit, they were more likely to do well of the states standardized tests.
